The Florida Keys

Despite the fact that it was thirty degrees in New Jersey, Key Largo was eighty and sunny every day of our trip. Needless to say, every day was a beach day. Although it was around sixty five degrees and breezy each night, that beat the cold, dry, New Jersey air.

Key Largo is the northermost island on the Florida Keys island chain, as well as the largest. Key Largo is a popular tourist destination, but it definitely did not feel like one in late December. Low humidity, yet still eighty degree weather is a perfect break from snowy winter weather. The sun's rays were strong enough that Aly and I needed to wear sunscreen outside every day (we are Irish, but even if you're not I would recommend it).

Key Largo is called the "Diving Capital of the World," because the living coral reef offshore attracts scuba divers and sport-fishers. Key Largo is a relaxing, fun place to vacation to say the least. To spice it up a little, we visited Key West for three nights and got a taste of the Key West nightlife.

Only about an two hours from Key Largo, Key West is known for its breathtaking sunsets, its fresh seafood dinners, as well as its famous bars on Duval Street. There is always something going on in Key West. And it will definitely make your trip something to remember.
